Frisco's Innovative Animal Facility Takes Shape

The Frisco City Council is moving forward with an innovative public-private partnership to build a $12.8 million animal facility, a first-of-its-kind in North Texas. The facility will combine public animal services with private boarding, grooming, and veterinary services. The project is expected to move toward an official agreement in January 2026, with construction potentially beginning as early as January 2028. This unique partnership will reduce the burden on the Collin County Animal Shelter, making pet reunifications and adoptions more convenient for Frisco residents.

Prescribed Burn Season Coming to City Parks

The Frisco Fire Department's Wildland Firefighting Team will conduct prescribed burns at two city parks to restore the native Blackland Prairie ecosystem. Frisco Commons Park will host a burn in January (at the wildflower meadow on the north side), and Grand Park will have one in February (at the future nature center site). Each controlled burn will last approximately four hours with minimal smoke. These burns help reduce excess vegetation, prevent wildfires, and allow native plants to regenerate within a week.

Holiday Hours and City Services

Residents should note that city offices and facilities will close December 24-25 and January 1. The Frisco Public Library will close early at 6 p.m. on December 31, though the drive-thru book return remains open. Regular waste collection will resume January 5, with modified schedules during the holiday weeks.

Toyota Stadium Renovation Progress

Construction continues on the $182 million renovation of Toyota Stadium. The east side construction began after the FCS Championship game on January 6, 2025. The west side remains operational during the 2025 MLS season. Major improvements include three new club spaces, renovated entrances, state-of-the-art sound and video systems, expanded concessions, and new luxury suites. The entire stadium is expected to reopen in Q1 2028.
